Authentix Fighting Fuel Adulteration in India
New Delhi -  October, 2006
The Indian Government has recently initiated a program to fight diesel fuel tax evasion. The technology behind this solution is being provided by the U.S.-based company, Authentix. Starting October 1, Authentix began marking subsidized kerosene that is intended for use as cooking fuel. In the past, this kerosene has been used as an adulterant in diesel as part of a fiscal tax evasion scheme. Criminal groups have diverted up to 40% of the subsidized kerosene supply and sold it as road fuel instead.

Now, all of India's subsidized kerosene contains an Authentix nano-scale marker
which cannot be laundered or compromised. The marker can show as little
as 5% fuel adulteration. With a program that combines these markers with field testing for the presence of the markers, the Indian government hopes to eliminate diesel tax evasion.

IBN Live, the CNN affiliate in India, reports on this new weapon to
fight fuel adulteration in India.
