Gov. Perry Announces $1 Million Enterprise Fund Grant to Authentix
Fund to secure the company’s expansion and relocation of its research and development facility from Douglassville, Pa., to Addison, Texas
Austin -
August, 2007
Gov. Rick Perry today announced a $1 million Texas Enterprise Fund (TEF) grant to Authentix Inc. as part of state and local efforts to secure the company’s expansion and relocation of its research and development facility from Douglassville, Pa., to Addison, Texas. This investment is projected to generate $6.5 million in capital investment and will create approximately 120 new jobs during the next five years.
“The Texas Enterprise Fund continues to be the most successful deal-closing fund in the nation, and this investment in Authentix will create new jobs for scientists, engineers and technicians, and benefit the local economy,” Perry said. “Today’s announcement is yet another sign that Texas remains one of the world’s premiere places to do business.”
Headquartered in Addison, Authentix is a leader in the global fight against counterfeiting and smuggling. The company utilizes nanoscale engineering to authenticate, track and trace pharmaceuticals, fuel, banknotes, tobacco, spirits, personal care products and agrochemicals.
“The governor’s Texas Enterprise Fund grant was one of the primary reasons we decided to move our existing manufacturing operations in Pennsylvania to Texas,” said David Moxam, Authentix president and CEO. “The TEF helps Authentix offset relocation costs, and we’re grateful for the State of Texas investment in Authentix as well as the assistance we’ve received from the Town of Addison. Texas is an ideal environment for fast growth-oriented businesses. The access to talent and intellectual capital when matched with quality of life for employees is unsurpassed.”
In addition to the $1 million TEF award, the Town of Addison also assisted in Authentix’s relocation.
“Authentix is one of the fastest growing companies in the Dallas area and important contributor to the Addison economy,” said Addison Mayor Joe Chow. “Their decision to expand is a testament to the benefits of doing business in Addison, including proximity to a well-educated workforce, university researchers and airports.”
The legislature, at Perry’s request, created the TEF in 2003 and re-appropriated it in 2005 and 2007 to help bring new jobs to Texas. To date, the TEF has closed the deal on projects generating more than 45,000 new jobs and $15 billion in capital investment in the state.
