Increase in Guyana's revenue collection exceeded US$40m in 2009
Georgetown, Guyana -
December, 2009
The Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) is reporting the total increased collection of taxes for this year so far of US$40 million (GY$8 billion) has exceeded the previously set target for 2009, GRA Commissioner General Khurshid Sattaur said.
He said the increase was due to a number of measures the Authority put in place to stem illicit activities on the country’s waterways, including the smuggling of fuel and vehicles.
